The Inn is delighted to note the Judicial appointment of the following Gray’s Inn Members in May 2024.

Jonathan Cannan

The King has appointed Jonathan Cannan to be a Judge of the Upper Tribunal on the advice of the Lord Chancellor, the Right Honourable Alex Chalk KC MP and the Senior President of Tribunals, the Right Honourable Sir Keith Lindblom.

The Senior President of Tribunals has assigned him to the Tax and Chancery Chamber with effect from 4 June 2024.

Jonathan Cannan will be known as Upper Tribunal Judge Cannan. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1989. He was appointed as a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, assigned to the Tax Chamber, in 2011. He was appointed as Deputy Judge of the Upper Tribunal, assigned to the Tax and Chancery Chamber, in 2015.

Hoa Dieu

The Senior President of Tribunals has appointed Hoa Dieu to be a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber with effect from 1 August 2024.

Hoa Dieu will be known as Judge Dieu. He was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 2006. He was appointed as a Fee-paid Employment Judge in 2021, and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Immigration and Asylum Chamber in 2021.

Natalie Wortley

The Senior President of Tribunals has appointed Natalie Wortley to be a Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Social Entitlement Chamber with effect from 20 June 2024.

Natalie Wortley will be known as Judge Wortley. She was called to the Bar (Gray’s Inn) in 1999. She was appointed as a Deputy District Judge (Magistrates’ Courts) in 2017 and as a Fee-paid Judge of the First-tier Tribunal, Health, Education and Social Care Chamber in 2021.
