Welcome to the Chapel at Gray’s Inn.
The Chapel at Gray’s Inn is open to all faiths for private prayer and quiet reflection Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm. Details of closures can be found on the Find Us page.
The history of Chapel is as old as the Inn itself; there has been a chapel and Chaplain (later renamed Preacher) on the same site since 1315. Preacher The Reverend Stephen Baxter is available to anyone who would like to meet with him. Christopher Bowers-Broadbent is the Chapel’s organist and choirmaster.
Services and events
We are a Church of England foundation, but people from all Christian denominations, and those from all faiths and none, are always welcome. Services are held on certain Sundays during the year. There is never any need to book attendance for services in Chapel.
Details of upcoming services can be found in Chapel events and in Chapel Services Easter to Trinity 2024 (PDF).
Choral Services
On ten Sundays per year, we sing Mattins (from the Book of Common Prayer) and on two Sunday mornings there is a Choral Eucharist.
Sunday Lunch follows every morning service and booking is open to all Members via the Gray’s Inn Online System (GIOS).
We have a Sung Evensong every term, and also on every Call Night when those being called, their families and friends, are especially welcome.
The music is uplifting, the preaching is challenging, and you are invited to join us.
Other Events
There is a monthly said Holy Communion Service, an annual ‘Words & Music’ evening and Summer Concerts every June.
