Ali Malek KC was called to the Bar in 1980 by Gray’s Inn, elected a Master of the Bench in 2003 and was the Inn’s Treasurer in 2021. Ali is currently Master of International Relations, seeking to promote an internationally active Bar and connect with the many Members of Gray’s Inn in other jurisdictions. As a student he was awarded the Cynthia Terry Entrance Award and The Malcolm Hilberry Award by Gray’s Inn to support his career journey.
Ali specialises in all aspects of commercial law with a substantial practice in international arbitration. He is Chair of 3VB chambers, is authorised to sit as a Deputy High Court judge at the Commercial Court and is appointed as a judge of the Qatar International Court.

Ali Malek KC took silk in 1996, was appointed a Recorder in 2000 and appointed a Deputy High Court judge in 2008 authorised to sit at the Commercial Court.
He was a Member of the General Council of the Bar (2005-2009), Chairman of the Commercial Bar Association (2007-2009) and Head of Chambers at 3VB from 2009 to 2016.
Ali was appointed as Chairman of the Lloyd’s of London Enforcement Board in October 2021. He is a member of the Panel of Advisors to the Attorney General of Singapore, a judge of the Qatar International Court and a member of the Dubai Financial Markets Tribunal.
