“Britain between the Wars” by Professor Simon Heffer MA, PhD.
The period 1918 – 1938, known as the uneasy peace, saw a General Strike in Britain and economic turmoil. The Liberal Party collapsed to be replaced as a political force. The Great Depression lasted until the mid-thirties and the King abdicated. Crisis-followed-crisis, until the country was engulfed in WWII.
The distinguished biographer and political commentator, Professor Heffer, will explore the history of these eventful years and ask how much could have been avoided.
